Overview
Sri Urpazhachi Kavu is positioned in Edakkad, Kannur district in the state of Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to three deities representing the Shaivism, Vaishnavism, and Shaktheya. Urpazhachi Kavu Temple is old and pristine holy shrine. The temple has three major deities namely Sri Urpazhachi Daivathar, Bhagavathi and Vettakkorumaakan also known as Kiratha Sunu. The temple was renovated in the mid 19th century.
The Oorpazhassi Kavu Temple is one of the renowned ancient temples in the Kannur region. The upper citadel, Mele Kottam, of this temple has another shrine of Thondachan.
Oorpazhachi Kavu Temple is old and pristine holy shrine. Sree Oorpazhachi Kavu is also known as ooril pazhakiya eachil kavu or ooril pazhakiya achi kavu.
The sub shrine of this temple is dedicated to Thondachan. That is located upper citadel (Mele Kottam). Here lot's of devotees offerings of areca nut, beetle leaves and dried rice. There are umpteen legends associated with the temple at the deities.
